Chamber Sponsored Events Title
Below is a listing of Community Events sponsored by the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce

Strawberryfest
Date: Weekend following Memorial Day
Strawberryfest is a festival that brings the community together. Lasting two days, the festival offers a number of craft booths, food vendors and games for everyone. The majority of vendors, both craft and food, have been coming to Strawberryfest for several years, a fact that adds to the hometown familiarity of the festival.

Visitors to Strawberryfest can expect to see live entertainment, children’s shows, local performances and demonstrations, and a parade. Not to mention games including several inflatable jungle gyms, traditional carnival games and water games.

Don’t miss the Chamber’s homemade ice cream booth, open both days during Strawberryfest. The booth offers 3 flavors of ice cream and strawberry shortcake as well as floats.

The Strawberryfest is a great way to spend the weekend with family while enjoying original arts and entertainment.

Annual Banquet
Date: Fall
The Annual Banquet offers Chamber members a chance to socialize over a catered meal. It is one of the rare occasions when a majority of members are together to compare notes and give the Chamber feedback on the work being produced.

The banquet takes a retrospective look at the previous year in order to decide what to focus on in the future. Having such a large number of members present at the same time offers the Chamber Board a rare brainstorming session that takes into consideration the interests of all members.

The Citizen of the Year, sponsored by WIKK and the Newton Press Mentor, is also announced at the banquet.
Community and Chamber members who attend are able to connect with other people in

Jasper County and learn how the Chamber of Commerce functions for members.

Taste of Jasper County
Date: Winter
The Taste of Jasper County showcases Jasper County and surrounding area’s finest
products and services that our florists, wineries, banquet facilities and caterers have to offer for
all of your special occasions.

It is an evening to relax, enjoy and support the Chamber.

Holly Jolly Jasper County Christmas
Date: Christmas Season
In an effort to celebrate one of the most well known Jasper County residents, the Chamber sponsors the Holly Jolly Jasper County Christmas. Burl Ives, once a resident of Hunt City, starred as Sam the Snowman in the Christmas cartoon, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” In addition to adding his voice to the jolly snowman, Ives made several other contributions to the entertainment industry.

Every Christmas season, the shops on the Newton Courthouse Square celebrate the life of Burl Ives while promoting local shopping. Storefronts are adorned with scenes from the cartoon and on Friday evenings Santa, accompanied by characters from the cartoon, can be seen walking around the square.

Not only does Holly Jolly Jasper County Christmas celebrate the success of one Jasper County citizen, but also brings success to the businesses in Jasper County by showing residents that there are several gifts in Jasper County just waiting to be unwrapped on Christmas morning.
